"Never done all the things you wanted to try"
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
I went out on a real date. I spent New Year's Eve with the same guy.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I try not to make resolutions only to be disappointed next December.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, but I did find out that I'll be an aunt this August. :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Aunt Joan. We weren't really close except that she was my dad's sister.

5. What countries did you visit?
Ha. The closest I got to leaving the country was leaving the state. I spent (almost) a week in Massachusetts last May.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Financial security.

7. What date(s) from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 4th was my first date with Shelter Guy. We went to dinner and took a walk around the plaza looking at holiday lights. It was a little very awkward but that didn't stop us from going out again.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Fostering two shelter kitties from June until they were adopted (together!) on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We didn't really see them in the first 2 weeks and couldn't touch them in the first month. It took a lot of TLC but Ron & Hermione came a long way during that 5 months.

9. What was your biggest failure?
The plan was to have a better job by January 1, 2011.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
No, I was very fortunate health-wise in 2010.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
As a gift? This Christmas I gave Brother 3 the Nintendo Wii NHL Slapshot. You hook your Wii remote into a mini hockey stick to play the game. It looks awesome! For myself? A lush dress (I think it's a deep raspberry colour) from New York & Company. I'd post a link but the dress isn't on the NY&C website anymore.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Brothers 2 & 3. They really stepped up and helped the family in different ways in 2010.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The US government, like that's something new.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The usual--rent, bills, books, movies, cds, magazines, and clothes.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Finding out that I'll be an aunt this August! :)

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Macy Gray's Beauty in the World.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent Christmas with my family. We attended the Christmas Eve service at

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
No, but I fell in like. This is a story in progress. :)

23. How many one night stands?
Whoever comes up with these questions really expects people to answer this one?

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Castle, White Collar, Doctor Who, The Vampire Diaries.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?
This is sad. I started to read so many books in 2010 but I only finished a few of them. I wouldn't say that these were the best books but I did enjoy Insatiable by Meg Cabot, Prada & Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard and Murder on the Bride's Side by Tracy Kiely. Hopefully in 2011 I'll finish all the books I started in 2010.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I enjoyed Owl City's album, especially Fireflies and Vanilla Twilight.

28. What did you want and get?
A Universal Studios pass--Wizarding World of Harry Potter, here I come!

29. What did you want and not get?
Nothing really.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Tangled.

31. What did you do on your birthday?
My family treated me to dinner at the Macaroni Grill. After dinner we went to Brother 3's apartment. There was cake--Baskin Robbin's Rocky Road. There was also some Wii Bowling, Trivial Pursuit and general silliness. I have fantastic family and friends. They all made my day special.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A job utilizing the skills I learned at university.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Expensive. I spent a little more on clothing this year than I probably have in other years. On the flip side, I got a good pair of sneakers for the shelter job and some lovely outfits for the office and church.

34. What kept you sane?
My furry family--Domino, Jack, Isaboo, Trixie, Gus & Mia. My friends wherever they are.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Matt Smith & Karen Gillan

I may be cheating a bit because I think we actually met in late 2009 but Shelter Guy. :)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010?
I learned to let go.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Your life is one big compromise
Stuck in the job you swore was only temporary
Feel like the world is passin' you by
Never done all the things you wanted to try
Stuck in one place, got a pain in your face
From all your stressin' out
You ask yourself there's got to be more than what I'm livin for
You ask yourself there's got to be somethin else
Somethin' more, more, more

Well let the sun shine on your face
And don't let your life go to waste
Now is the time, got to make up your mind
Let it shine on you, let it shine on you" --Shine by Laura Izibor

I love the original music video. The artist and band change decades (1960s-2000s) from verse to verse. The acoustic music video version is very pretty, just Laura Izibor and her piano.
